If I had to define myself, I would say that in a past life I must have been an Amazon. As far back as I can remember, I have always had a passion for horses. At the age when other little girls played with dolls, I played with imaginary horses, all one more beautiful than the other, making stables and obstacle tracks for them.
When I was about three years old, my father finally let me ride a horse. His constant harping to teach me how to mount properly didn't discourage me. I was set loose: I could finally ride a horse! Many years of learning followed before I started participating to horse shows and hurdling competitions with my marvellous little pony called "My Love".
At school, I would daydream while sketching horses on my folders, although my teachers thought of me as a studious and attentive student. Much later, after several years of studying interior architecture and with two diplomas in the pocket, I decided to set up my own business. I designed and carried out layout projects for companies and private clients for eight long years. But my horses were far off and I missed them so terribly! Constantly thinking back of the times when my pastime was entirely devoted to horses, I allowed my passion to catch up with me: what's bred in the bone will come out in the flesh.
I purchased a wonderful black Spanish thoroughbred stallion and I started riding again. Training is synonymous with rigor and precision! At the same time, I took up drawing again as I wanted to make a eulogy to this wonderful animal, the companion of man for thousands of years and recognised today for playing a major role in our history.
As an interior designer, I used a colour pencil drawing technique to present my projects. I made my first animal portraits in 1998. Four years later I decided to concentrate exclusively on drawing. Since 2002, I make plenty of animal portraits upon request.
Interior design developed my sense of detail and taste for precision, two essential qualities for creating drawings with the living realism that characterises my work. On my website, you can also view a short documentary about my drawing technique. The video was made and broadcast in 2003 by the French channel EQUIDIA for the television show "Artcheval". Since 2006, my work is valued by the Douot Auction House and for the last six years I have regularly presented my work on art conventions, festivals, fairs, equestrian and/or art shows, galleries and shops.
